European rock I: Intro

The shock of May 1968 also came to rock. In Europe, the most restless musicians created bands and used conventional instruments to capture their time and claim their own identity.

Although the biggest commercial phenomenon was the Swedish Abba, the creative West German music scene with art-rock pioneers stood out. In this highly conscious Europe there was also room for a new generation of singer-songwriters.

Focus - Hocus Pocus (1971)

Song composed by the guitarist Jam Akkerman and the flutist Thijs van Leer who opened his album Moving waves. From the Netherlands they reached the British and American markets.

In the 1970s, consumer countries such as France, Italy and West Germany were included in the tours of the big rock stars. This generated a great record market and the fact that rock news was contained in specialist magazines and radio and television programmes. In this environment, bands of young Europeans who had lived through the student revolution created a high level of cultural rock that was influenced by classical music, jazz and electronic avant-garde.

International: Lunar Twin

Lunar Twin is an American dreamwave band. Inspired by Einstein's Twin Paradox and the Theory of Relativity and composed of multi-instrumentalist Christopher Murphy and vocalist Bryce Boudreau.

With influences as Joy Division, Billie Holliday and Portishead, they created soundscape compositions with guitar reverberations, electronics and beats, that speak about the place of man in the universe.

Lunar Twin - Hawks (2020)

Track credited to both members of the duo that appeared on their album Ghost moon ritual. They define their sound as "psychedelic and modern cinematographic".

Bryce Boudreau and Chris Murphy met in July 2011 during a performance at the Denver Underground Music Festival. This led to a musical project that, in October 2013, was named “Lunar Twin”, in relation to a theory about the possibility of the Earth having a twin moon. After the records Lunar twin (2014) and Night tides (2017), in April 2020 Ghost moon ritual appeared, an album that the two members of the band recorded separately in Hawaii and Salt Lake City (Utah).
